69. Josephine (Jo, Jo Jo, Piti) LAGOS (private).

Joseph Frank BARON, son of Francis BARON and Agnes ZAGATA, was born on 15 March 1914 in Passaic, Passaic County, NJ, USA. He served in the military between 1944 and 1946. In the US Navy on the USS Sabik, where he was a ship's barber, third class. He was educated at Passaic High School and graduated on 16 June 1949 in Passaic, Passaic County, NJ, USA. Did not graduate until 1949 because he had dropped out of high school at 16 when his mother died. Between 1949 and 1953 Joseph was a barber and owned his own barber shop in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA. He died on 5 April 1953 at the age of 39 in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA.

Mercedes Mary BARON **86 was born on 21 March 1951 in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA.95 Her grandfather Antonio Lagos had always wanted a descendant named after his sister Mercedes, and when she was born, he and his wife were visiting Cuba. Mercedes' parents Joe and Jo sent a telegram to Antonio and Josefa stating simply words to the effect "Mercedes and her mother are doing well." She died on 6 February 1957 at the age of 5 in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA.

Dolores BALL (Carr) noted in 1992 that "Mercedes reached the hearts of her aunts and uncles as well as her cousins. What stands out is how special she was to her Aunt Dee [LAGOS) and Uncle Pie [BALL], who were extraordinarily good to her after her father's death.

Long after the death of Mercedes and her father Joe Baron, her mother, Jo LAGOS BESTEIRO commented "A book is made up of many chapters and I look at this as a closed chapter of the Book of Life but I know that their memory will always live in the hearts of the Lagos Family."

Michael Stanley NASPINSKI, son of John F. NASPINSKI and Katherine B. WAZECHA, was born on 22 August 1917 in Mahanoy Plane, Schuykill County, PA, USA. He was baptized on 26 September 1917 in Frackville, Schuykill County, PA, USA. Baptism took place at St. Anne's Church He was educated at Frackville High School and graduated in June 1935 in Frackville, Schuykill County, PA, USA. Michael served in the military between 1942 and 1945 in Newport, RI, USA. He was in the US Navy, where he served as a Ship's Cook First Class, cooking 21,000 meals a day on the destroyer Mervine at Newport. After 1945 he was a cook in Newark, Essex County, NJ, USA. Worked as Second Cook at the Hotel Essex House and as a cook in Child's Restaurant and the Hickory Grille. He owned a luncheonette called Mike's between 1950 and 1960 in East Newark, Hudson County, NJ, USA. Between 1960 and 1979 Michael was a postal clerk in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA. He retired in 1979 in Paterson, Passaic, NJ, USA. After retirement moved to Port St. Lucie, FL, in 1979, and then to Tallahasse, FL in 1994. He died on 12 July 2001 at the age of 83 in Tallahassee, Leon, FL, USA.
